This role involves coordinating with CTU (Central Transmission Utility), STUs (State Transmission Utilities), and other internal stakeholders to secure grid access and power evacuation solutions. The ideal candidate will run power evacuation feasibility studies, conduct necessary due diligence, and collaborate with external consultants to ensure continuous power supply over the long term, addressing challenges such as transmission constraints, grid integration, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Power Evacuation Feasibility & Grid Connectivity

  • Align with the renewable energy business plan lead the process of securing 500-1000 MW connectivity annually for renewable energy projects from CTU, STUs, and State Load Dispatch Centres (SLDCs) in coordination with Project Development and Wind/Solar engineering team.
  • Perform power evacuation feasibility studies to assess transmission network capacity and system stability for large-scale wind, solar, and hybrid renewable energy projects.
  • Collaborate with CTU, STU, SLDC, and other relevant agencies to address grid congestion issues and ensure timely connectivity approvals.
  • Review network expansion plans, identify transmission bottlenecks, and work on solutions to ensure optimal power evacuation.
  • Conduct due diligence on transmission network capacity, ensuring grid infrastructure can accommodate renewable power injection over the long term.

2. Regulatory Coordination & Compliance

  • Navigate and manage the process for securing grid access in compliance with CEA, CERC, SERC regulations, and relevant grid codes.
  • Coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with interconnection agreements, grid codes, and PPA terms.
  • Ensure alignment with policies related to FDRE, RTC, and BESS integration for firm and dispatchable renewable energy projects.
  • Attend various meetings with CTU, STU and other nodal agencies for gathering market intelligence
  • Collaborate with transmission planners for CTU/STU connectivity, load flow analysis, and grid interconnection approvals.
  • Work with regulatory teams to ensure compliance with CEA, CERC, and SLDC/RLDC norms

3. Network Studies & Modelling

  • With support of external consultants perform load flow studies, dynamic stability analysis, and voltage optimization to ensure reliable and stable power evacuation.
  • Work with external consultants to run network modelling using tools like PSS®E, ETAP, PowerWorld, and others to perform system impact assessments and recommend necessary transmission upgrades.
  • Review and validate feasibility reports from consultants to ensure effective power transmission from remote sites to central grid points.

4. Site & Resource Coordination

  • Collaborate with internal teams (technical, commercial, and legal) to identify sites with optimal solar and wind resources for project development.
  • Review resource assessments, land availability, and proximity to existing transmission infrastructure to maximize power evacuation potential.
  • Ensure the timing of grid connectivity aligns with the project’s commercial operation dates (COD) and overall project timelines.

5. Stakeholder Engagement & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with CTU, STU, and transmission network operators to expedite the approval process and reduce lead times for grid connectivity.
  • Work with external consultants and engineering teams for transmission network modelling, grid integration feasibility, and solutioning for evacuation solutions.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with external consultants, EPCs, and transmission service providers for transmission upgrades and capacity expansion.

6. Long-Term Power Supply & System Sustainability

  • Ensure that long-term grid stability and capacity planning are factored into all connectivity and evacuation strategies.
  • Work on future-proofing designs, ensuring the transmission network can support scalable renewable energy projects while minimizing system losses and costs.
  • Lead sustainability efforts in power evacuation, identifying future renewable energy corridors and developing plans to integrate new renewable energy sources over time.

7. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and present regular reports on power evacuation feasibility, transmission network studies, and grid connectivity approvals to senior management.
  • Document and maintain interconnection agreements, transmission contracts, and other regulatory compliance documents.
  • Ensure proper documentation for grid interconnection approval processes, network capacity, and system optimization studies.
