Assignment Details

Our client, a global development sector organization, is looking for a seasoned humanitarian professional with a good mix of emergency experience, supply chain management expertise and project management skills. Effective communication and coordination with diverse stakeholders will be key to success.

Context: A Project Manager (PM) to lead a project piloting Relief Packs in South Asia and exploring deployment in the Philippines and Southern Africa over 18 months. Based in India, the PM reports to the Sr. Manager of SC/PS in our Humanitarian Operations Team. Responsibilities include coordinating with for sourcing, assembly, and quality control of Relief Packs, partnering with pilot country offices, facilitating supply chain processes, exploring use cases, and contributing to the Go-To-Market Strategy/Scale-up Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

A.
1. Some parts of the Relief Pack are custom made, some are procured centrally and the rest are locally sourced in pilot countries. The PM works closely with the design team at T-works to ensure sourcing/production of quality product and packaging of Relief Pack.
2. Involve in supplier vetting and selection who supply Relief Pack and verify quality of items and and consistency of service.
3. Coordinate with the pilot countries for any adaptation of kits depending on local circumstances and provide technical guidance for all local sourcing and packaging.
4. Ensure economies of scale and optimization of resources with due consideration of quality standards.
5. Ensure proper registration of intellectual property (IP) - copyrights and patents associated with the Relief Pack in India and other jurisdections as appropriate before mass production for deployment to pilot countries. Patents for Relief Pack are initially retained by T-Works and transferred at a later date.

B.
1. Work closely with the Country office leadership and emergency focal point and supply chain lead to understand the response needs and design Relief Pack deployment strategy.
2. Work with T-Works and selected vendors in India and ensure they have licence and required paperworks for exporting Relief Pack to pilot countries.
3. Coordinate with the suppliers and or shipping companies in India to transport/ship Relief Pack to destination countries in an efficient and cost effective way.
4. Coordinate with respective Country Office team and support with incoming customs clerance, onward transportation, warehousing and distribution.
5. Provide pilot countries with complete paperwork for importing and customs clerance of incoming Relief Pack.

C.
1. Explore the feasibility and customize the content of Relief Pack as appropriate and pilot in Philippines.
2. Facilitate the discovery of Relief Pack use case in Southern Africa region (Mozambique, Madagascar and Malawi).
3. Provide design and innovation feedback from the pilot and discovery including any possibilities of local procuction and custmization to meet unique needs of particular country or region.
4. Contribute to developing go-to-market strategy and scale up plan.

D.
1. Ensure proper documentation of process, learnings, challenges and success for visibility, sharing and knowledge management.
2. Bring stories and and learnings from the ground to influence any donor interest and funding oppottunities.
3. Support fund raising and resource mobilization team to develop any funding proposal to advance the scale up of Relief Pack across Confederation.

Skills Required

-A minimum of 6 years of experience responding to rapid onset humanitarian emergencies in different geographic locations.
-Ability to work in diverse team, influencing the work of others and delivering results independently. Extensive experience facilitating emergency Supply Chain Management.
-Knowledgeable and understanding of the import and export of humanitarian relief supplies.
-Good communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
-Demonstrated ability to develop, build and maintain relationships with staff of all levels including senior management and CO teams
-Experience of cross boarder humanitarian response or regional response.
-Master's degree in social science, humanitarian affairs or management or similar fields and relevant practical experience.
