Assignment Details

Our client, a leading American Foundation, is looking to engage with a Consultant – Localization of POC Ultrasound Devices in India.

 

Key Responsibilities

Product Requirements Definition (Weeks 1–2)

  • Develop detailed hardware specifications, including functionality, technical requirements, and production scalability.
  • Define baseline criteria for evaluating potential manufacturing partners.

Company Shortlisting (Weeks 2–3)

  • Identify 4–7 Indian companies with relevant expertise or manufacturing capacity for POC ultrasound devices.
  • Conduct preliminary research to assess alignment with project goals and production capabilities.

Technical Capability Evaluation (Weeks 4–5)

  • Engage with shortlisted companies to evaluate their technical expertise, production capacity, and scalability.
  • Outline the scope of work for potential partners in line with project deliverables.

Quality Control Assessment (Weeks 6–7)

  • Assess the quality control systems and certifications of shortlisted companies to ensure compliance with international healthcare manufacturing standards.
  • Verify their processes for maintaining high-quality production and meeting delivery timelines.

Cost and Timeline Analysis (Weeks 8–9)

  • Collaborate with 2–3 selected manufacturers to define production timelines, investment needs, and other requirements.
  • Assist in preparing proposals for securing grants from organizations like the Gates Foundation or the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Facility Visits and Grant Process Initiation (Weeks 10–16)

  • Conduct site visits to validate manufacturing capabilities and establish working relationships with company leadership.
  • Facilitate discussions on grant processes and formalize partnerships, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
     

Skills Required

  • Proven experience in the medical device industry, particularly in manufacturing, evaluation, or quality control.
  • Strong understanding of POC ultrasound device technology and AI-enabled diagnostic tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical and production capabilities of manufacturers.
  • Expertise in quality control systems, healthcare certifications, and compliance with international standards.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to work within tight timelines.
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
