Question You Would be expected to answer

  • What is the actual on-shelf availability (OSA) % in retail stores by SKU category / cohort? (e.g., KVI, Staples, FMCG, GM, Fresh, Bread milk frozen). How does this vary in large box vs super format stores? How exactly is this metric defined and measured?
  • How do retail companies plan and maintain this OSA level- what is the days of inventory at hand / inventory per sqft. in store / replenishment process / supply chain / buying planning?
  • How do retail chains manage customer experience when some SKUs go out of stock? Is there an assortment strategy that makes customers switch to another pack size / variant / brand?
